Our Commitment

Norwalk Dental Group is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities, including those who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, voice control, or other assistive technology. We are actively working to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA — the widely recognized standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for web accessibility. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time fix, and we review and improve this site on a continuing basis.

Conformance Status

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means portions of the content have not yet been fully tested or do not fully meet every success criterion, consistent with the fact that this site is still being built out ahead of our practice opening. We do not represent this site as fully, certified accessible — we represent it as a genuine, ongoing effort, and we welcome feedback that helps us close any gaps.

Measures We've Taken

  • A "skip to main content" link for keyboard users, so navigation doesn't have to be tabbed through on every page
  • Visible keyboard focus indicators on all interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields)
  • Text and button colors checked against WCAG AA contrast minimums (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components)
  • Semantic HTML landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer) so screen readers can navigate the page structure accurately
  • Decorative graphics and icons hidden from assistive technology (via aria-hidden) so they don't create audible clutter for screen reader users
  • A mobile menu that is fully operable by keyboard and screen reader, including an Escape-key shortcut to close it
  • Form fields with associated, programmatically linked labels
  • Support for users who have enabled a "reduce motion" preference in their operating system or browser
  • Responsive design that supports browser zoom and text resizing without loss of content or function

Known Limitations

We believe in being direct about where this site still falls short, rather than overstating our progress:

  • Doctor and office photos are still placeholders; descriptive alt text will be finalized once real images are added
  • Our patient list signup form has not yet been tested with a live screen reader session end-to-end
  • Any future embedded map (e.g., for directions) will need a text-based alternative added at that time
  • This site has not yet been through a full third-party accessibility audit

Compatibility

This website is designed to be compatible with recent versions of major screen readers (such as VoiceOver and NVDA) and current versions of major browsers. It does not rely on Flash or other technologies known to create accessibility barriers.

Feedback and Contact

If you use assistive technology and encounter a barrier anywhere on this site, we want to know about it. Please contact us at info@norwalkdentalgroup.com with a description of the issue and the page where you encountered it. We aim to acknowledge accessibility requests within 2 business days and will work to address genuine barriers as quickly as we reasonably can. If you need any content on this site in an alternative format, contact us using the same email and we'll do our best to accommodate you. A phone contact option will be added here once our office line is active.

Formal Complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice regarding ADA compliance, or seek other remedies available under applicable law. We would strongly prefer the chance to fix the issue directly first — please reach out using the contact above.
