Our Approach

Comfort Is Built Into Every Visit

Dental anxiety usually comes from a few things: the injection, the sounds, and what happened last time. We design each visit around easing all of them.

That is why we pair comfort technology with a range of sedation choices, so you can pick the level of relaxation that feels right. Our goal is a painless visit, from the first injection to the days after surgery.

How We Do It

Five Ways We Keep You Comfortable

  1. QuickSleeper5® Injections

A computer-controlled system that delivers numbing medicine slowly and steadily, designed to make injections more comfortable. When appropriate, it can numb just the tooth being treated, so your lip and tongue are not left numb afterward. We use it for children and adults.

  2. EXPAREL® Long-Acting Pain Relief

A long-acting numbing medicine that Dr. Han can place at the surgical site during oral surgery. It is designed to ease pain for up to 72 hours and may decrease the need for narcotic pain medication. Whether it is right for you depends on your procedure and your health.

  3. Nitrous Oxide

Often called laughing gas, it is breathed through a small nose mask for light relaxation. It wears off within minutes of the mask coming off, and it is a gentle option for nervous kids and adults.

  4. Oral Sedation

A prescribed medication taken before your visit for deeper relaxation. Some patients feel drowsy or remember little of the appointment. You will need a responsible adult to drive you home.

  5. IV Sedation

Given through an IV by board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Sung Han and adjusted throughout your procedure. Many patients remember little or nothing of the visit. It is often considered for wisdom teeth, implant surgery, full-arch treatment and longer surgical visits.

Individual experiences vary. Which options are right for you depends on your procedure and health history.

Choosing Your Plan

These Tools Work Together

The QuickSleeper5® is used for numbing in most treatments, with or without sedation. EXPAREL® is added for surgery when significant soreness is expected afterward. Nitrous oxide, oral sedation and IV sedation add different levels of relaxation, from light to deep.

Your doctor will recommend a plan based on your procedure, your health history and how you feel about treatment. If you are nervous, read about dental anxiety or tell us when you book. Coverage for sedation depends on your specific plan, and we will give you a clear estimate beforehand.
