What to do until your appointment
For a knocked-out tooth, keep it moist (in milk or your own saliva) and get to us as quickly as possible. For pain and swelling, a cold compress and over-the-counter pain relief can help in the short term. Avoid chewing on the affected side, and don't apply aspirin directly to the gum or tooth.

What happens during an emergency visit
1. Evaluation
A thorough exam, often including X-rays, to assess the extent of the problem and figure out the right course of action.
2. Pain Relief
If you're in pain, easing that comes first. Through local anesthetic or other pain management as needed.
3. Treatment
From there, treatment depends on what's needed, anything from a temporary repair to a filling, root canal, or extraction.
