Lost Filling or Crown
An exposed tooth needs prompt repair to prevent further damage. It’s more vulnerable to sensitivity, further breakage, and new decay.
A filling or crown can come loose or fall out entirely, leaving the tooth underneath exposed and more vulnerable until it's repaired.
Step by step
-
1
Keep the crown or filling piece if you have it.
-
2
Avoid chewing on that side of your mouth.
-
3
If it's a crown, you can temporarily reattach it yourself using a small dab of denture adhesive or dental cement from a pharmacy as a short-term measure. Never use super glue.
-
4
Call us promptly so it can be properly re-seated or repaired before the tooth shifts or the exposed area worsens.
the tooth becomes painful or sensitive, or you're unable to temporarily reattach a crown yourself. Don't leave it exposed for long.
