Why It Matters

A dentist your kids won't dread

A child's early dental visits shape how they feel about going to the dentist for the rest of their life. We focus on making appointments comfortable and low-stress, explaining things in a way kids understand, and catching issues early, while their teeth and jaw are still developing. Dr. David Lin leads this approach with a simple philosophy: every child deserves the same level of care and patience he'd want for his own family.

01

First visits, done right

A calm, low-pressure introduction to the dentist sets the tone for how your child feels about dental care going forward.

02

Preventive-first approach

Regular cleanings, exams, fluoride, and sealants aimed at catching issues early, while a child's teeth are still developing.

03

Growing with your child

The same doctor and team from their first tooth through their teenage years, who actually know their history.

Silver Diamine Fluoride

A brush-on liquid that stops early decay in its tracks without a drill or numbing. Often used for young kids or teeth not quite ready for a filling. The treated spot does turn dark permanently, which is a sign it worked. Learn more →

Stainless Steel Crowns

A durable, well-established way to restore a baby tooth with significant decay, or reinforce a tooth after a baby root canal, protecting it until it's naturally lost, and helping hold spacing for the permanent tooth coming in behind it. Learn more →

Baby Tooth Root Canals

When decay or injury reaches the nerve of a baby tooth, a pediatric root canal can save it rather than pulling it early.

Baby Tooth Extractions

When a baby tooth can't be saved, a gentle extraction protects the health of the permanent tooth growing in behind it.

In-House Orthodontics

When it's time for braces or clear aligners, Dr. May Kim provides orthodontic care right here. No outside referral needed.

What to Expect

A typical visit

Every visit is paced to your child's comfort level. A quick, friendly introduction for first visits, a gentle exam and cleaning, and plenty of explanation along the way in terms they understand. If a specific procedure is needed, we'll walk you through exactly what to expect for that treatment before it happens. See our full treatment guide → for the details on any individual procedure.

Common Questions

Pediatric Dentistry FAQ

As soon as two teeth touch each other, usually somewhere between ages two and three. We'll show you how at your child's visit.

Sealants are a thin protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth, where cavities most often start. They're typically placed as soon as permanent molars come in, usually around age six and again around age twelve.

When a baby tooth has significant decay too extensive for a filling alone, a stainless steel crown protects the tooth until it's naturally lost, avoiding an early extraction.

Most orthodontists, including Dr. May Kim here at our practice, recommend a first orthodontic evaluation around age seven. Early enough to catch developing issues, even if treatment itself doesn't start right away.
